Why is Australia converting to this network?
Australia is converting to be up to standard with the rest of the world in terms of advancing technology. Technology is constantly advancing at a rapid
rate; we now live in the information era where digital improvements are constantly made to better human life. Australians are converting to this
network, as they want faster and more efficiently internet connections. This network allows quicker downloads on the internet, you can stream online TV,
simpler to stay in touch with friends and family, incredibly good quality video calls without connection failures, easier to work from home and can be used
regularly for education and health.
The current network used in Australia such as Telstra's copper network (ADSL; ADSL 2+), and the Telstra and Optus HFC, these networks have technical limitations that make delivery at higher speeds increasingly difficult. It’s not fast enough, or reliable enough, and cannot provide what is needed for future years whereas the NBN through providing a much more reliable network can enable Australia to prepare for future technological advancements
and is part of a complete plan to prepare Australia’s telecommunications organization for the future. That is why Australia is converted to this new
network and why the government is investing so much into the conversion; to meet the needs of Australia's digital evolution.
